Responding to Music

This week, I chose an application that I use so frequently, I forgot how truly useful it is in the music world. Voice Memos can help students respond to music in multiple ways. By recording lessons, a student can listen back and respond to their sound, their progress, and any adjustments they have made or need to make. This can help students evaluate their own performances, which relates to the 7th National Standard.

  1. I agree - I always record my voice lessons and catch lots of things that I didn't notice during my actual lesson.

  2. My private voice teachers have always required me to record lessons, but I have never thought of the process as a way to respond to the music I make myself! This is such an interesting perspective.

  3. How funny; I did my blog post on Voice Memos, too! Did you know that it can also relate to National Standard #6? With Voice Memos, you can listen to, analyze, and describe the music you are making and think of ways to make it even better!

  4. I enjoyed how your related it to the National Standards. Those are very important, especially within our nation, but you are absolutely right - voice memos can be incredibly useful, especially since phones are so portable and accessible.
